About Us

IAB Mission

To promote excellence in business research and practice by facilitating the

dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge through peer-reviewed journals and impactful

academic conferences. Our mission is to foster a global community of scholars,

practitioners, and educators dedicated to advancing innovation, ethical leadership, and

sustainable business practices across disciplines and industries.

OUR TEAM

John Malindretos

Dr. Malindretos has had a diverse background in the areas of

academia and industry. He has taught at institutions of higher learning. He has been nominated for excellence in instruction and research.

 

 Dr. Malindretos has over one hundred presentations in Finance, Accounting and Management. Additionally, he has published more than one hundred book chapters and refereed journal articles and he has also co-authored a monograph in International Finance.


Dr. Malindretos acquired, managed and owned a real estate firm for about 15 years. He has consulted for commercial banks and investment banks. He has had a career in Wall Street thatspanned a dozen years having started at Salomon Smith Barney. 


Finally, he founded an investment bank as the Chairman of the board of directors.g for your next business meeting. Choose from a variety of sizes to suit your needs.

Carolina Rojas Llamas, Director of International Education

 Carolina Llamas Rojas is an education methods specialist and accomplished business leader with expertise in banking and advanced e-learning solutions. She holds an M.B.A. from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston and a Law degree from ICADE, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid. Her career includes leadership roles as Branch Manager at Banco de Madrid (Grupo Banesto), Business Development Manager at National Westminster Bank, and CEO and Founder of Aprendetec, a company dedicated to designing and implementing advanced e-learning programs. 

Lora Levitchi,

 Loredana Levitchi is a versatile financial services leader with extensive experience in project management, transformation strategy, and business development across global markets. She has held senior roles including Senior Vice President and Senior Transformation Lead at Citi Bank, Senior Program Manager and Architect at JPMorgan Chase, Second Vice President at New York Life, and Senior Financial Analyst at Bloomberg consultant Algorithmus LLC. Her career also spans business development at Western Dental in Los Angeles and financial project management at Animo Ltd. in Romania.


Loredana holds a Master’s in Mathematics of Finance from Columbia University, an M.B.A. from California State University, and a B.S. in both Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, as well as a Psycho-Pedagogy Teaching Degree from Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau. 

Pavlos Gyparis, Director of Conferences

 Mr. Pavlos Gyparis, Co-Director of Conferences, is a seasoned business and hospitality professional with expertise in sales, marketing, and business development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Science in Business from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.


Mr. Gyparis served as Sales & Marketing Manager for Louis Hotels S.A., where he developed and executed annual marketing strategies to expand the Greek market share for 22 luxury properties in Greece and Cyprus. He also worked as Business Development Manager for Louis Sbarro Restaurants Hellas S.A., leading market expansion initiatives, negotiating deals, and managing projects for the international Sbarro restaurant chain. His experience reflects strong strategic, analytical, and leadership skills in competitive hospitality and franchise markets.

Dr. Augustine C. Arize, Professor Emeritus of East Texas A&M, Co-director of Research

  Dr. Augustine C. Arize earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Central Arkansas and a doctorate from North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas). His scholarly work has gained him notoriety, with his 300 published articles cited more than 6,000 times. He has received citations from the World Bank Publication and Working Papers, the European University Institute, and the Center for Economic Research on Africa. His research interests include international trade and finance, developing economies and monetary economics.

Dr. Miquel Noguer Alonso, Co-Director of Research and Scientific Journals

Dr. Miquel Noguer Alonso is an accomplished financial technology leader and academic with extensive experience in AI-driven finance and global investment management. He is the Co-Director of Research and Founder of the Artificial Intelligence Finance Institute, and serves on the Advisory Boards of the Financial Data Professional Institute and CFA Quant Investing. Dr. Noguer Alonso is also a professor at NYU Courant, NYU Stern, Columbia University, Imperial College, and ESADE, where he shares his expertise in quantitative finance and artificial intelligence.

Previously, he held senior leadership roles including Chief Development Officer of Global AI, Executive Director at UBS AG overseeing investment products and services across Europe, and Chief Investment Officer at Andbank, a $7 billion private bank. Earlier in his career, he was a Supervising Senior at KPMG focusing on banking and financial markets. Dr. Noguer Alonso combines deep academic insight with practical experience to advance innovation at the intersection of AI and finance.

Chuck Berendt, Chief Language Editor

 Charles Berendt, Chief Language Editor, combines strong financial, legal, and technical expertise with exceptional editorial skills. He has served as a financial copyeditor for Merrill Lynch Advisors and EisnerAmper auditors, ensuring precision and clarity in complex financial documents. His experience also includes work as a legal writer and lead support staff member in corporate and administrative law, as well as a telecommunications software developer and tester at AT&T. Charles holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and General Literature from Binghamton University and a Master of Science in International Finance from Touro College, enabling him to bridge language, finance, and technology with professional insight. 

Dr. John Barkoulas, Co-Director of Research

 Dr. John Barkoulas is Co-Director of Research and a seasoned academic in finance with a strong background in quantitative analysis. He holds a Ph.D. from Boston College, an M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University, and a B.B.A. from the Athens School of Economics and Business Science. Dr. Barkoulas has served at Georgia Southern University for over two decades, advancing from Assistant Professor to Full Professor of Finance, where he teaches and researches financial markets, quantitative methods, and investment strategies.


Charles Berendt, Chief Language Editor, brings a unique blend of financial, legal, and technical expertise. He has worked as a financial copyeditor for Merrill Lynch Advisors and EisnerAmper auditors, a legal writer supporting corporate and administrative law practices, and a telecommunications software developer and tester at AT&T. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and General Literature from Binghamton University and a Master of Science in International Finance from Touro College.

Colin Cuneo, Co-Director of Conferences

Colin Cuneo, Co-Director of Conferences, is an accomplished entrepreneur and private equity partner with extensive experience in finance, operations, and business development. He is a Partner at Cuneo & Co LLC and has co-founded and led multiple ventures, including serving as CFO of SYP, President of Blendtique Wine Company, and CEO of Rangeworks LLC (2011–2016) in Santa Ynez, California.

Colin holds an MBA in Finance from the Fordham Gabelli School of Business and a B.A. in History from Ithaca College, blending strategic financial expertise with a strong foundation in leadership and innovation

Demetrios Spiros Giannaros , Co-Director of Education

 Dr. Demetrios Spiros Giannaros, Co-Director of Education, is a distinguished educator, economist, and public servant with decades of leadership in academia, government, and international trade. He began his career as Manager at Samos Imex Corporation before joining Suffolk University as an Assistant Professor of Economics and later serving as Professor at the University of Hartford.


Dr. Giannaros has held prominent public roles, including Member of the Connecticut General Assembly (1995–2010), where he served as Deputy Majority Leader, Deputy Speaker of the House, and Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee. He also directed the U.S. Consortium for Management Education in Central and Eastern Europe and was a member of the Connecticut International Trade Council. Earlier, he was Special Assistant to the President of George Washington University. His career reflects a unique blend of academic excellence, economic expertise, and legislative leadership.

Theodoros V. Stamatopoulos Co-Director of Education

 

Dr. Theodoros V. Stamatopoulos, Co-Director of Education, is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of West Attica in Athens, Greece. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Athens School of Economics and holds both a Master’s and Doctorate from the University of Piraeus as well as the University of Aix-Marseille in France.


Dr. Stamatopoulos serves as Co-Editor of the International Journal of Economics and Business Administration and the International Journal of Finance, Insurance and Risk Management, and is Guest Editor for the Journal of Risk and Financial Management. He also chairs several international academic organizations, including ICABE, and is active in ISMA, IAES (recognized as Member of the Month in September 2021), and SASE. In addition to his academic career, he has held private-sector leadership roles as a Chief Financial Officer in financial services companies, blending scholarly expertise with practical financial management experience.

Dr. Scott Liu – Co-Director of Conferences

 Dr. Scott Liu is an accomplished academic executive with 26 years at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), where he has served as Executive Associate Dean for Global Programs, Dean of the School of Management, and Professor. As Director of the Center for International Business Studies, he has led NYIT’s global initiatives for more than 16 years, fostering international partnerships and expanding global educational opportunities. 

Dr. Mary Lo Re, Co-Director of Education

 Dr. Lo Re was the former Director of Business Experiential Learning & Internships at the Nicolais School of Business at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York after previously holding the following leadership roles: Chair, Department of Business Administration; Dean, Department for Lifelong Learning and Interim Associate Provost.


Dr. Lo Re obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics from Queens College and a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center, specializing in Monetary Theories & Policies and International Trade. She has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in the areas of corruption and the financial markets, EU/EMU monetary convergence policies and exchange rates as well as on the topic of the economic financial crisis. She also is an author of two books as well as two book chapters. Her areas of teaching and research include finance, risk modeling, economics, data analysis/forecasting and international business.
